The Campagnolo Gran Fondo charity is the Challenged Athletes Operation Rebound program that supports those who have served honorably. Operation Rebound funds equipment, training and travel expenses that can help injured troops and first responders to harness the healing power of sport – whether the goal is to win Paralympic gold or just run around the block. With Camp Pendleton, Coronado Naval Base and the Naval hospital with San Diego’s County limits, this charity is close to the hearts of local residents.
The Fondo also hosts a bike and fitness Expo on Saturday April 11th 4:00 p.m. This is a great way to enjoy learning about fitness products, other health events and see all the latest and greatest bikes. A number of beautiful cycling clothing items have been designed by Primal Wear to complement the event.
The Gran Fondo isn’t just for those who like to ride, it provides opportunities for those who wish to participate as volunteers as well. If you want to be a part of the fun and support the Challenged Athletes organization please follow this link to learn more or sign up to volunteer at the event.
Once you complete your course of choice you’ll be invited to partake in a massive party-like event after crossing the finish line. Cheering begins once you cross the line and receive your medal. Then you can park your bike with the bike valet, enjoy the Italian Pasta Fest and Beer Garden as well as a well-deserved massage under the beautiful sunny skies of San Diego.
