In strict violation of rule #50, Giant-Alpecin rider Simon Geschke has gone ahead to take out Stage 17 of the Tour de France - Digne-les-Bains to Pra-loup - earning himself the award for most aggressive rider in the process.
Rule #50 as set by the Velominati states:
Facial hair is to be carefully regulated
"No full beards, no moustaches. Goatees are permitted only if your name starts with “Marco” and ends with “Pantani”, or if your head is intentionally or unintentionally bald. One may never shave on the morning of an important race, as it saps your virility, and you need that to kick ass."
As we can see, the only way Geschke could have stayed true to the code is if he had the uncanny ability to grow a full face of fuzz overnight. But as we know, that is not the case...he's been rocking it for a while now.
Robbie McEwen catches up with Simon to find out all about the infamous rule breaking beard and whether or not it is indeed true that Geschke swore to himself he would not shave until he took out a Grand Tour Stage.
