Last week CyclingTips reporter Dave Everett walked the halls of Interbike, putting pressure on marketing managers to tell us why we should buy their new products. With just two minutes to make the pitch, which brand made an impression on you? Which new product would you like to take home?
GOPRO
Entering the drone market for the first time and with two new cameras, GoPro had a stand that was bustling with interest. The Karma drone was the star product on show. It’s highly portable and robust with a detachable gimbal and should see the sports camera powerhouse shake up the drone market come 2017.
LAKE SHOES
With three new models and a refresh of a few older models, Lake cycling had a good few products to show off. That included a super-light carbon-soled Boa-closed climbing shoe.
FABRIC
Better known for their range of tech-heavy saddles, Fabric had new pumps and a brand new range of intelligent bike lights to show us.
OTTO LOCKS
If you frequent Kickstarter you may be aware of Otto locks. They’re a company trying to invigorate the lock market with a highly portable and unique bike lock design.
KALI HELMETS
With a boss that has a background in developing military planes and equipment, we expect a lot from Kali. On show this year was a brand new aero road helmet, the Tava. It’s a lid they claim is the fastest on the market.
100% SUNGLASSES
They may not be the biggest name in cycling but 100% Sunglasses sure make some cool-looking shades. This year they are upping their road range and they’ve been spotted on the faces of several Cofidis riders during the 2016 season.
RITCHEY
The man, the legend, Tom Ritchey took us through his love of steel before we pushed him into giving us the lowdown on his latest gravel/adventure bike, the Outback.
SILCA
Silca pumps have been some of the most lusted-after tools of late. For 2017 they are adding a range of Boa closure saddle packs and some neat multi-tools.
NUUN NUTRITION
All organic sports nutrition company Nuun ran us through their new and fresh take on sports drinks.
DEFEET SOCKS
Sockdoping is pretty much the only doping you’ll get away with these days (without a TUE from the UCI). For 2017 Defeet has a few new and updated socks that’ll keep you looking fresh and your feet comfortable.
MOTION LOGIC
Though the name might not be familiar to you, Motion Logic’s work most certainly will. The man behind the brand has fitted up some of the best cyclists in the world. Now Motion Logic will become available to us mere mortals.
ORBEA BIKES
The basque brand only last week released two new bikes, the Orca and the Avant. For Interbike they teased us with an upcoming gravel/cyclocross bike that should be available come December: the Terra.
ROLL RECOVERY
Looking after your body after a tough race or ride should be part and parcel of a healthy cyclist’s daily routine. Roll Recovery has a range of massage products that should help with this.
LIZARD SKINS
Dimension Data and Lotto Soudal use Lizard Skins’ grippy bar tape. Here we get a run down of what’s new including a range of equally grippy and comfortable gloves.
BLACKBURN BAGS
Bikepacking is all the rage and Blackburn has a range of quick installing and waterproof bags that should do the job if you’re out in the wild on long adventures.
CADENCE COLLECTIVE
The LA-based company does a fine line of commuting clothing for all weather conditions. We took a look at a little of their winter range including two jackets to keep you dry, warm and above all, looking good on the bike.
ALTO WHEELS
New to the market Alto Wheels showed us their range of large flanged carbon hoops. We had a ride on a set recently and wanted to check out the rest of the range.
HANDLEBAR MUSTACHE
More sock news, this time with Handlebar Mustache who make some funky-looking socks. We talk to the main man with possibly the best facial hair at Interbike.
