Scott Cycling Products
In 1958, Ed Scott, a skier, and engineer from Idaho invented the first aluminum ski pole. The engineering and manufacturing techniques that Scott developed in the production of skiing and motocross equipment transferred effectively into the cycling business with the brand kicking up dirt with the production of its first mountain bike in 1986.
Three years later, Greg Lemond took one of the most famous Tour De France victories in history, beating Laurent Fignon by 58 seconds in the final time trial to win the 1989 edition by just 8 seconds. Helping him edge out Fignon, Lemond was using the world’s first clip-on aero bars, designed and manufactured by Scott.
Throughout the following decade, the brand continued to develop, expanding from winter gear into motorsports, running and cycling products that pushed the boundaries of what was achievable in terms of lightness and aerodynamics.
Today, cycling accounts for approximately 80% of the now Swiss-based Scott sports business, making them a prominent name in the cycling industry for everything from bikes to apparel, components, and shoes.
